About Cheryl A. Cole

  

Cheryl is a compassionate and highly experienced professional dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and communities through life’s most significant changes. She guides people in embracing transition, navigating loss, and reflecting on life’s end with dignity and meaning. Her work centers on helping individuals live fulfilling lives by focusing on mental, emotional, and overall well-being, while also fostering inclusive environments and promoting policies that honor and improve well-being in all stages of life.

With specialized expertise in grief recovery, bereavement support, and end-of-life consulting, Cheryl blends professional counseling skills with heartfelt, person-centered care. She holds a Master of Science in Community Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Community-Based Therapeutic Recreation & Leisure Studies from Southern Connecticut State University. A former Licensed Professional Counselor, she is certified as an Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, a Grief Recovery Specialist through The Grief Recovery Method, an End of Life Doula through the International End of Life Doula Association, and a Professional Life Coach. She has additional training as a Grief Coach and is completing her Grief & Bereavement Certificate from the University of Vermont in 2025.

Deeply engaged in community service, Cheryl serves as a Board Member for the East Shore District Health Department’s Community Health Improvement Planning initiative. She facilitates grief support groups at the James Blackstone Memorial Library, leads walking-based grief groups with E-Motion Movement Community, and provides bereavement and end-of-life vigil support with AccentCare (formerly Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care).

Her career spans diverse roles, including Mental Health First Aid Instructor with Community Health Resources, Counselor/Case Manager and Life Skills Supervisor with Vista Life Innovations, Behavior Specialist and Clinical Manager with Behavioral Management, LLC, and Psychiatric Assistant at Yale University’s Psychiatric Institute. Across these positions, Cheryl has empowered individuals with autism spectrum disorders, neurological impairments, and mental health challenges through counseling, program development, crisis intervention, and community-based education.

Known for her warmth, empathy, and ability to create safe, supportive spaces, Cheryl helps people navigate change, find meaning in loss, and embrace healing at every stage of life.
